Firecracker Thai Kitchen

Foreword

Firecracker Thai Kitchen, which is currently located within the Salt City Market in downtown Syracuse has expressed its interest in moving to an empty building in downtown Syracuse, on South Salina Street. The original structure was constructed in 1925 and historically operated commerical functions such as a restaurant, a bank, and most recently a hair salon. The building utilizes the Neoclassical architectural style - the style became a national trend post WWI. With its Euro-Centric design of the building structure, and the surroundings, one of the main goal of the project was to create a design that would decolonize the eurocentric design of the building, introducing Thai elements into the site, while preserving the form of the building, as it is in the process of being registered as a national historic building. Through series of design processes and drawings, many alternations were made to accomodate unification of the both floors, which was seperated in previous venues.
